A LONG LASTING PARTNERSHIP:

CONSTANTA SHIPYARD AND DANAOS SHIPPING, GREECE …

The year of 2023 was a reference one for the cooperation between Constanta Shipyard and DANAOS Shipping, Greece.

The long lasting partnership was rewarded during the year with an assignment of 4 projects, out of which 3(three) sister container ships of 260 m x 32.30 m / 40030 GRT (KINGSTON, MERVE A and ZIM LUANDA), having a similar scope of works (DD & BWTS retrofitting) and one container ship of 243 m x 32.20 m / 37113 GRT (DIMITRIS C),  which working specification included standard DD and extensive steel repairs i.w.o. structural steel, soft steel and hatch covers.

The main jobs for the “sister ships”, KINGSTON, MERVE A and ZIM LUANDA, consisting of:

-   Standard DD works;

-   Hull, decks, cargo holds & hatch covers, accommodation structure treatment (hydro-jetting up to 2000-2500 bar and paint application ), cumulating more than 18.000 sqm/ship;

-   Landing ashore 30 units hatch covers, with extensive soft steel works, gasket renewal, sockets and pads as well;

-   Steel & soft steel works ( abt 5 t / ship);

-   Various mechanical & electrical works;

-   Retrofitting of Ballast Water Treatment System - ALFA LAVAL 150cbm/h, a complex project which called for a prefabrication time prior ships arrival, saving the idle time spent during repairs.

For all three sister vessel projects, the works were completed within contractual terms, to the full satisfaction of our reputable Client.
