The chemical product tanker “Histria Dione” is build in accordance with the rules and regulations of RINA Classification Society, has a length of 180 meters, a beam of 32.24 meters, a draft of 11.20 meters, delivering a speed of 14 knots and having a cargo capacity of 49,500 cbm and a crew of 18, with superior cargo intake
- Nafta = 34,000 tonnes at 10.50 m draught, specific gravity 0.70 tonnes/m3
- Gasoline = 36,000 tonnes at 10.80 m draught, specific gravity 0.74 tonnes/m3

According to Histria Shipmanagement, Histria Dione can carry 12% more cargo than traditional vessels with the same draft and beam, and the shallow-draught design maximises cargo intake at the draught - restricted ports typical of the MR1 trades in the Black Sea, Mediterranean and Middle East –the arc-shaped region that dominates the MR1 trades.

After the traditional religious ceremony performed by the Archbishop of Tomis, H.H. Teodosie, Mrs. Dumitrita Bosinceanu, the President of Constanta Shipyard’s Board of Directors, the Godmother of the vessel was invited to the podium.

Mrs. Bosinceanu officially named the ship Histria Dione and blessed her, whishing her fair winds and good fortune in calm and safe seas!

The culmination was, of course, the naming moment when the Lady Sponsor cut the ribbon and the bottle of champagne was broken in thousands of particles against the ship’s bow whilst magic music was played by the Navy Band.

After a group photo, all guests were invited on board the shiny, bright vessel to get a view of the powerful engines, the comfortable crew facilities and ultra-modern high-tech bridge, were a cocktail was served.

Traditional gifts were presented to the Godmother and ship’s Captain.

It was truly an event which will cherish in our memories for a long time.
