Santierul Naval Constanta (Constanta Shipyard) is going GREEN. SNC is implementing a new investment of more than 2 million EUR in a 3.2 MWp Photovoltaic Power Plant. For financing the investment, SNC has accessed the funds allocated by the Ministry of Energy from PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), whilst the balance of 70% is financed from company’s own funds. The project is implemented at the shipyard’s location and installed on the 45,000 sqm roof of the Hull Workshop. The plant will operate in "self-consumption" mode. The project includes installation of 5,472 photovoltaic panels with a nominal power of 585 Wp each, mounted on a structure made of aluminium profiles, connected to inverters with capacities of 125 kW and 100 kW, hooked up to a newly built transformer station of 2 x 1,600 kVA, 0.4/6kV. The photovoltaic power plant is connected through the newly designed transformer station to the 6 kV bus bars of the existing onshore substation. The chemical product tanker “Histria Dione” is build in accordance with the rules and regulations of RINA Classification Society, has a length of 180 meters, a beam of 32.24 meters, a draft of 11.20 meters, delivering a speed of 14 knots and having a cargo capacity of 49,500 cbm and a crew of 18, with superior cargo intake

According to Histria Shipmanagement, Histria Dione can carry 12% more cargo than traditional vessels with the same draft and beam, and the shallow-draught design maximises cargo intake at the draught - restricted ports typical of the MR1 trades in the Black Sea, Mediterranean and Middle East –the arc-shaped region that dominates the MR1 trades.

After the traditional religious ceremony performed by the Archbishop of Tomis, H.H. Teodosie, Mrs. Dumitrita Bosinceanu, the President of Constanta Shipyard’s Board of Directors, the Godmother of the vessel was invited to the podium.

After a group photo, all guests were invited on board the shiny, bright vessel to get a view of the powerful engines, the comfortable crew facilities and ultra-modern high-tech bridge, were a cocktail was served.

Traditional gifts were presented to the Godmother and ship’s Captain.

Over 250 guests attended the happy event on Thursday, representing prestigious international banks, major oil companies and international traders of petroleum and chemical products, owners who own oil & product tankers and are interested in our project, brokerage houses, lawyers, consultants and insurers specialized in maritime transportation, ship design companies, ship equipment manufacturers, but also local authorities representatives, classification society and many others.
Speaking upon the naming ceremony, Mr. Gheorghe Bosinceanu, the President of both companies Constanta Shipyard and Histria Shipmanagement, said:
“Constanta Shipyard celebrated 127 years. The Founding Act was signed on 24th of October 1892 by the Director of Hydraulic Services at the Ministry of Public Works. Throughout the five generations, the shipbuilders from Constanta Shipyard have docked over 6,000 vessels for specific works and upgrades. They built and delivered 461 maritime vessels, of which the last 21 were 41,000 DWT oil and chemical tankers built on the basis of a successful integral Romanian project. Benefiting from this long experience, this time in collaboration with a German ship designer, we are proud to propose to the Maritime Transport Association a new and innovative 40,000 DWT tanker project without rival in the oil and chemical tanker class which is part of. The constructive features (loading capacity, fuel consumption, automation class, compliance with the highest environmental standards) will ensure the success of the new series of ships proposed to the market by our shipyard.”
M/T “Histria Atlas” is another example of the mobility, persistence and flexibility of merchant maritime forces. She and her coming sister vessels are joining a renewed and emboldened fleet, more modern, more capable, than ever before.
The project known as ECOMAXMR1 is the result of a successful cooperation between Constanta Shipyard and Histria Shipmanagement, which skills have complimented each other to deliver this complex project.

Attending with an own booth the 2018 POSIDONIA event (4th-8th of June 2018), it is becoming already a tradition for CONSTANTA SHIPYARD. Having in mind that the Greek shipping market represents the most important basin for our repairs & retrofitting Clients, the fair was a good opportunity to meet traditional Clients and to open new business relationships. During the days of exhibition, more than 50 face-to-face meetings with Clients representatives (from superintendents to Fleet / Technical managers and Ship-Owners) and ship repairs brokers took place. The meeting’s agenda included sharing of thoughts about previous cooperation, future projects, prospects of challenging actual demands i.e. Ballast Water Treatment Systems installation (where Constanta Shipyard has already achieved an experience installing such systems as ECOCHLOR, ALFA LAVAL, HEADWAY on several projects), or Scrubbers installation (the Shipyard being prepared in all respects to undertake this kind of works, basis Clients’/ Makers’ provided documentation) A chance of visiting booths of various Makers of equipments & materials, which might be used in ship repairs activity, was also a good opportunity in updating with specifications new materials, equipments and innovation for this field. As strengthening of business relation with traditional & new partners was always our goal, the cocktail party organized by Constanta Shipyard on 6th of June was a real success, the event being fully appreciated by our Clients. With each edition of POSIDONIA we gain more experience toward cooperation with our Customers and accumulate more technical information which are definitely useful to our further activity.
